Project Activator Running in Miami

Project Activator Running in Miami

After some preliminary testing I ended up getting some great drone footage in Miami. We lucked out and had an absolutely perfect day to run the 22 Activator. So far, the boat is running very well. Everything to do with boat is amazing, the Activator is built like a tank. So far, the setup is working great. I love the SeaStar jack plate and all the accessories we used.

The Evinrude is running great and I especially love the clean rigging, power is amazing, and the steering in general is amazing. The only drawback is, like every modern outboard, the mounts are a bit soft, which results in slightly sloppy steering at higher speeds. But, in general, I’d say it’s better than some on the market and the actual steering is a step up from front mount hydraulic steering in most ways. One noticeable thing is the sound too, the big Evinrude G2 sounds great at high RPM; there is nothing like the sound of a big V6 two stroke revving up.

Even though I have put some hours on it, I haven’t had a great time getting baseline numbers yet but I will soon. With a 26” Tempest, I was seeing mid 70s, and will continue to test a few more props with the estimation of being in the high 70s, which is what I expected. This Activator is really heavy, and built for offshore use, so it won’t be the fastest SOB type boat around, but in rough water I think it could hold its own against any other small single engine boat. More testing is next and I will post the results as they come.
