Project Activator: Introduction

Project Activator: Introduction

With great excitement, we are announcing our own restoration project: Project Activator.  After careful consideration and lots of tire kicking, we finally found our boat. We have acquired a 1990 22 Activator that is in need of some serious help.

What we like? It’s a stunning looking hull. Very low profile and sleek with a relatively deep V and a pad that should give it some stability at higher speeds. The goal is to build a solid little wave crusher, not an ultra light top speed shooter. In the end, it will be better than new as we use newer materials that will be stronger and last for a long time.

Hull Specs:
Length 21'6"
Width 94"
Deadrise 22 degree
Transom angle 13 degree
Weight 1300 lbs

Construction
Balsa core deck and hull sides
Wood transom, knees and stringers.

We should be starting the tear down next week and we will be documenting it on YouTube, wavetowave.com and with some highlights on social media. Subscribe on YouTube, follow us along for a fun project.

More updates are coming. Engine choice, colors and a few other things are undecided at this point. But, we are leaning towards a 200 or 225 HP, new engine under 500 Lbs. That leaves about 2 options, if you can guess what they are.
